Supporting a friend or loved one with an addiction?

The stigma surrounding dependency is isolating for people like us.

We need support and guidance, but it’s hard to connect with others who understand our specific situation. Group sessions aren’t always an option, and sharing publicly can be very uncomfortable.

IsThereSomebody is a new approach to peer support that’s highly personalised, private and accessible.

Tell us about you and your loved one

Start by filling in an anonymous profile for you and your friend or loved one struggling with addiction so we can find others navigating similar challenges.

We ask for things such as their age band, their relationship to you and the types of addiction they’re dealing with. If you want, you can also provide your approximate location and fill out a story to personalise your account.

By design we collect no personally identifying information, so you can be confident in your anonymity and safety on IsThereSomebody.

Find matches and connect

These are other users on IsThereSomebody in a similar situation to you, dealing with the same addictions and in the same life circumstances.

Our powerful matching algorithm finds those in as similar a situation to you as possible. You can expect your matches to be of a similar age range to you, in a similar relationship to their friend or loved one (e.g. husband, daughter, parent), and dealing with similar addictions.

Chat and support one another

Once you’ve made some connections, use our chat feature to get support with specific issues or just vent and share experiences.

All messages shared on IsThereSomebody are end-to-end encrypted, so nobody other than you and the person you’re messaging can see what you say. You can also block, report or remove a connection at any time so you’re in full control over who you talk to.

Access professional organisations

Your IsThereSomebody profile lets us recommend specific professional organisations that may be able to help you.

If one-on-one support from other members isn’t enough, we provide easy access to professional organisations that can provide resources and services to help those living with friends and family struggling with addiction.
