Hi locket
After many years of experience and hoping they will realise what they are doing and what they are putting their family/loved ones through, unless they take responsibility for their addictions/actions then nothing will ever change. 20 years plus I've been travelling down this road and it's never changed. I don't want to come across as negative but I want to come across as practical!
My life, because of loving my son and enabling him, believing his lies/excuses has ruined my life. His life takes over everything. He is a father to two beautiful little girls but is so immature and focused on his perception of life and the hardships he's had to 'suffer' because of it(all his own choices) has made our lives hell. We are the  innocent ones who are having to walk on eggshells around him so as not to upset him.

Hi, I don't exactly know what causes this but I think alcohol seems to completely change the way they think. My son is intelligent and used to be reasonable but he blames everyone else, and refuses to admit he has a problem, and gets angry and defensive if I suggest he needs help. If I tell him I love him he says I'm being manipulative ? Really hard to understand and accept. I just hope he changes back one day .

I completely agree alcohol destroys people unfortunately it’s our sons . Mine is super intelligent and was a brilliant solicitor but alcohol changed all that .
It’s everyone else’s fault despite him drinking when working at home and getting sacked from over 6 jobs in 2 years . I have had enough he is the only person who can stop this cycle and it’s not my fault nor anyone of us . 💕

I had the same with my partner for years to the point I had to leave our house to make him realise. They always avoid this and I always used to think it was me, so I stepped back to complete radio silence n it was only then he stepped 4ward x
