My son

Somebody supporting another with cocaine addiction
Just found this app, my son is 42, been addicted to cocaine for over 20 years, he knows he has a massive problem, won’t get help, says he will get clean working long hours, his well paid job enables him. It’s basically tearing my family apart, I’m stuck in the middle, it’s getting worse and I know there’s nothing I can do if he won’t seek help.
Any advice greatly appreciated 
It’s so lonely

So sorry you’re going through this. It can be very lonely when you’re in the middle of it, but know that you’re definitely not the only one out there whose son is struggling with addiction. 😢

Does your son have a partner or kids at all?

No he doesn’t, plus he’s working abroad at the moment, I recently visited him and he looks very unhealthy.

I know how lonely it is - my son also struggles with cocaine addiction but won’t get help - I read a term this week called Ambiguous loss.

The specific grief of watching someone you love disappear while they are still physically present.
The person is still there.
 Their body. Their face. Their name.
But the person you knew, the version that existed before the addiction took hold, is increasingly difficult to find.
And you are grieving someone who has not died. No ending. No socially recognised moment to begin mourning.
Just the slow accumulation of loss with nowhere to put it. 

Nobody can understand this unless going though it too. All we can do is hope it gets better. ♥️
