My son is ketamine and clonazapam dependant.
He is 45kg, 6ft and a dangerously high heart rate and pulse. The paramedics were called and said he should go with them to A&E but he refused.
I read that to love a drug addict is to run out of tears . At times I have.
I fear I will loose him . The mental health team say he has too much capacity to section him. So now I wait for him to be critical.
My heart is broken.

Thank you . Today was a good day . I managed to distance myself from it . He was happier today as he’s getting a cat. We are all hoping it will help with the anxiety and I. Turn he may be able to put weight on . We must all Keep hoping. Xx

Ah thats good. Having a pet to be responsible for and love may help him - especially with anxiety x

I feel your pain - we are in a similar position with my daughter who is 20 and has severe mental health problems and suicidal ideation as well as an addiction to ketamine and Benzos. She attempted suicide a few weeks ago but unfortunately discharged herself from hospital before they could do a psychiatric assessment (I think she might have got sectioned then if she’d have stuck around). We spoke to the GP this week and I was very assertive about our needs and how she keeps falling through the gap between MH and drug services (I recommend using AI to write a script for such conversations by the way). She has now been given an urgent 72 hour referral to the mental health team but we haven’t heard anything yet and that was Wednesday evening - I won’t hold my breath and who knows what ‘treatment’ they will offer. She will also be unlikely to meet the criteria for sectioning now.

I am so sorry your going through this. I hope your son gets the help he needs. Its devastating. Ketamine is the devil! Its destroying our children.
