Lies

Somebody supporting another with alcohol and cannabis addictions
Hey ,
Just needing a vent ,thought son was doing better and getting all the jelp and having all the support in
Place .
But I guess love and support isn’t enough and the love of this horrible stuff is more .

I fear it will
Never end and all our dishing and trying to help isn’t enough if they are going to score they are going to score and become really good at trying to hide it ….i thought we were being supportive and helping the situation ,turns out we are only making him hide it and lie more .

It’s breaking me my husband and our daughter ?it’s time to stop this for everyone’s sake  as we are making no difference at all .He feeds us all what we want to hear but it’s just lies £300 for councilling a month that I struggle to find (but will do anything h to help ) but it’s not helping he has just got better at not being honest .

He makes me feel stupid and takes me for a fool because I love him with all my heart .

My kids are my life and I always always will be there for them ,I want to let go of this and say what will be will be you have to face this on your own ,but I’m to scared I have to try .

My heads a mess ,it consumes me and I just am so unhappy inside ,yet on the outside the world thinks we are a great family unit none sees the cracks and it’s so hard.

My husband doesn’t know what to say and consumes himself with a new job role and golf (he is the best husband and o love him with all my heart too) but it’s taking its strain .My daughter has  all her anxiety back that she worked so hard at changing and she has become a different person within herself and dosent leave her room really (she is not on drugs for sure)

I am holding it together by a very thin thread during the day ,and of.  Might everything goes o er I. My head and I just don’t sleep.

It’s a merry go round and I want to get off !!!  I just don’t know how .😢

I really feel for you. Your words describe me a year ago.  At the end of my tether and it definitely strained what was (& thankfully is once again) a strong marriage. We had to let go for our own mental, physical and financial state in the end - boundaries were never kept to and it had gotten too bad.  Things are better now. Would I make that decision again? Honestly I don’t know, you can only do whats right for you and what you can cope with.  I would never lend money again even little bits here and there would be a no, and I wouldn’t pay for counselling/ therapy (like we did) unless he really truly wanted to and was engaged with his recovery.  I look back now and can see how enabling we were, unwittingly (especially me).

Sending strength xx

You are not alone with this. All sounds so familiar ..but my marriage did not survive. My daughter also had to move out for her own mental wellbeing. I have huge debt from paying for priory counselling, son has been clean since end of August when he had a relapse but he doesn’t go out at the moment.  I fear that the minute he does go out he will take drugs again.  I also don’t sleep - complete insomnia
