Somebody supporting another with alcohol addiction
Hi, so this first time finding this site.
So i am with my partner of 4years who struggles with drinking quater bottles of sprits and cheap cans.
We have a little girl who never sees it or try make sure she doesnt see it.
I am trying help him quit and tryed everything in the book. The ignoring it and talking him a few days after. 5day detox etc.
before all ask and tell me i dont want to leave him as i know hes a good person! I know he can give up but how the hell do i help him? Am all alone on this one. I dread pay days and i dread him going to the shop!

Sadly you cannot help him till he decides he needs help. Look after yourself, set your boundaries, follow through when he oversteps them. I suggest going to Al Anon meetings if you can. Very helpful. You didn't cause it. You can't control it and you can't cure it. Addiction is an awful disease that affects the whole family x
